Dear Iron Horse Family,

We are excited to announce that one of our own, Dom Fin, was elected into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame this Wednesday.  This is the highest honor you can receive in the sport of lacrosse.   Dom has long been considered one of the legends of our sport but now his legend will be cemented into our sports National Hall of Fame for the ages.  This highest of honors could not go to a more deserving recipient.  In the history of the sport of lacrosse very few, if any, people have ever possessed the vision, footwork, quickness, athleticism and lacrosse IQ of Dom.  As his teammate, I had the distinct pleasure of watching Dom work his magic on a daily basis.  We could always depend on Dom making the right decisions with or without the ball and no one was more fun to watch weaving in and out of defenders bouncing with purpose and precision.

Please understand that Dom’s achievements did not come easy. I witnessed the long hours Dom would put in on the wall, running in the wee hours of the morning from the South Campus of Syracuse to the Dome and then back, of course timing himself along the way.  I can’t tell you the number of hours I saw Dom honing his skills on the wall and in front of the goals on Manley Field.  He worked tirelessly for his coach and his program. He was, and is, as competitive as they come.  But most importantly Dom was a teammate of unequaled selflessness.  He played on a line with two other Hall of Famers (Roy Colsey and his HOF classmate Charlie Lockwood) and Dom made them better sacrificing personal statistics to achieve team goals.  On too many occasions to count, Dom would draw two or sometimes even three defenders opening up space for all his teammates. In short, he made us all better.

After his career as a player at Syracuse University, Dom gave back to the sport by passionately teaching some of the games current greats. His enthusiasm and love for the sport of lacrosse is boundless.  We are so proud that #26 represents our Iron Horse family. He is truly a legend and I am proud to call him a friend.

For our Dallas families that do not know Dom, you may see him at T99 helping introduce our players to the college coaches.  Go ahead and introduce yourself, you may soon have a friend for life.  Congrats, Dom!

Head, Heart, Hustle

Fin will be inducted as a truly great player. Following an outstanding prep career at Yorktown (N.Y.) High School, Fin became a three-time first team All-American as a midfielder at Syracuse University, earning the honor in 1992, 1993 and 1994. He was selected as the winner of the USILA’s McLaughlin Award as the national midfielder of the year as a senior in 1994, and was also named MVP of the USILA’s North-South All-Star Game that season. Fin helped lead Syracuse to the 1993 NCAA title, and served as a team captain in 1994 in leading the Orange to the NCAA semifinals. Fin was previously inducted to the US Lacrosse Hudson Valley Chapter Hall of Fame in 1999.
