Dear Parents and Players,
Our first weekend of tournaments is here. Read below for everything you need to know.
Cowboy Cup is addressed first since the majority of our teams are doing that event. Terrapin Classic is addressed at the end of the email. Also included in the high school section is a list of items we still have that need to be picked up.
Even though the midweek practice for Ponies was a makeup, we will still hold the practice.
Teams in Cowboy Cup this weekend:
2036, 2035, 2034 Carolina, 2034 Orange, 2034 Navy, 2033, 2032, 2031 Mongoose (under Meerkats), 2031 Secretariat, 2030 and 2029
CLICK HERE FOR COWBOY CUP SCHEDULE ON SE TOURNEY (Formerly Tourney Machine)
Just a reminder that Cowboy Cup is a tournament so your playoff schedule will be determined by your pool play games (usually 3 games in pool play) so your Sunday schedule will be up in the air until all of your pool play games are complete. You will get 4 games guaranteed but most of you will play 5 games. Once Tourney Machine is populated, you can view the bracket to determine your possible times on Sunday. Sometimes in a tournament, your final pool play game is Sunday morning, if that is the case, you will need to stick around to find out when your next game will be. You may have to wait on other teams to finish for that to be determined.
For our younger parents you will want to download the SE Tourney App on your phone and follow your schedule. Your schedule can change between now and the tournament. Once you download the app, set it to "Texas" "this week" and the Cowboy Cup will show up. From there you scroll down to find your team and click on the follow button (jersey symbol), which will create a shortcut to your team every time you open the app. One tip for using Tourney Machine is that if you open the app make sure to swipe it away fully every time you close the app. SOMETIMES if there are updates it will not populate those updates if the schedule changes.
Always check SE Tourney one final time Friday night to make sure there are no further changes. Please be communicative on your Gamechanger App. If you see a change, let the team know.
It's usually 45 minutes prior to your first game UNLESS YOUR COACH TELLS YOU DIFFERENTLY and some have. Give yourself enough time to park and walk to the fields (field map included again below).
Some of you are in and out quickly, while other teams have 3 games and will be out there longer. Please make good food choices while out at the fields. Granola bars, fruit bars, nuts, PB&J, bananas avoid high fat foods, fast food, sugary sodas and dairy and try to give your player time to digest their breakfast if they have an earlier game. If you have a longer day, they will need to eat more but try to have them eat smaller portions spread out throughout the day.
I have seen some teams start the process of chiming in on Gamechanger about what they are bringing. Some teams like to bring food and drinks to share. If your team has not done this yet, it only takes one parent to start the process.
Please don't forget your mouthguard. You have to wear it to play in games.
Most teams at this point are chatting like crazy. I am personally on 14 GameChangers. I have been chiming into everyone's GC regularly throughout the fall to answer questions. I am not going to be able to keep up with that on a tournament weekend. If there are any major issues, my cell phone is 214-392-8919. I will tell you that the cell service at the field is not the best, especially after the first few games of the day when there are so many people at the facility.
I distributed laminated lanyards and rosters to a parent on your team this past Saturday. There is one roster card and lanyard for each player. These will be distributed at the field on Saturday by the parent that got the cards/lanyards. The only team, I did not print roster cards for is 2036 since you only signed up for the season and not the year. I will send you your roster so that you can cheer on your team. These are good for the year so please hang on to them going into the summer.
