Dear Parents and Players,

If you missed Welcome To Tryouts Part 1 please read that below as it is a more logistical email about tryouts specifically. Please don't forget that 2029, 2028, 2027, 2026 that are trying out tonight are on the main campus stadium field from 8:15 PM-9:45 PMCLICK HERE FOR WELCOME TO TRYOUTS PART 1.

*One thing I omitted from yesterdays email is when the players check in if you are offense wear the white side, if you are defense wear the dark side of the jersey.  The one exception to this is we want all 2029's tonight to wear the orange side of their reversible.*

Welcome To Tryouts Part 2:

Fall 2024 Master Calendar

What you have all been waiting for!  The fall master calendar is here in 412 lines of the best fall lacrosse you can ask for.  CLICK HERE for the fall master calendar.

About the fall Master Calendar

The master calendar consists of the following tabs:  2024 Fall Master Calendar with all events, 24-25 Tournaments By Grad Year, HS tournaments chronological, Youth Skills, High School Skills and Ponies.

The 2024 Fall Calendar is color coded to make it easier to find your events.  If this calendar intimidates you don't worry, once you are on a team, you will get invited to an app called GameChanger and your team specific schedule will be uploaded to your team app and auto-reminders will be sent out about each event as they come up so you don't have to navigate this beastly spreadsheet for too long!

This calendar is always located on the home page of the website.  When viewing from a desktop its on the top left hand side, when viewing from your phone it is the first link you see when you open the home page.

Built In Makeups

Each Team has the following makeups in case of weather already built into the schedule:

  • High School teams 2028, 2027, 2026 have 3
  • Youth teams 2029, 2030, 2031, 2032, 2033 have 2
  • Ponies teams 2034, 2035, 2036 have 1

Skills and Holiday Camp

The positional skills for 5th-8th grade at the youth level and 9th-12th grade at the high school level and our 19th annual Holiday Camp are extra events that you can also register for if you choose to do so.  Those registrations will be out next week!

Our highly popular goalie skills will be made available to our team players first and usually sell out with our team players so those skills will be restricted to our team members first but all other skills are open to anyone regardless of where they play select or rec lacrosse.  Skills are about 50% Iron Horse players and 50% non- Iron Horse players.

Our Holiday Camp draws campers from around the state and we have about 20% that come in nationally for the event so it is a great camp!  Our staff for the camp is comprised of NCAA coaches, many of them head coaches of their respective institutions.

Tournament Tab

Please note that some of the summer 2025 dates have not updated yet so the rollover dates from summer 2024 were used.  I know that most of the missing dates will be out after Labor Day.   Please use the tournament tab to view your list of tournaments in case, one slipped by and did not make it from there to the master.

Mistakes on Calendar

We put this schedule together over the course of the last 4 weeks.  I can guarantee there is at least one mistake in there either with a day/date issue or other. Please email me if you see something so I can look into it and fix it if necessary at tsurran@ironhorselax.com.

Why Iron Horse?

We pride ourselves on many things but these are the top 5:

1.  AMAZING COACHING We have the most diverse group of coaches in the metroplex from all over the city.  We employ multiple head high school and high school assistant coaches from Coppell, Rockwall, Allen, Jesuit, St Marks,  Hebron, Parish etc.  We have a goalie pit and faceoff training at every practice as well as offensive and defensive specific training.   Many of our college alums coach with us either in the summer or after they graduate.

2.  COMPREHENSIVE 1ST-12TH GRADE LACROSSE PROGRAM  Iron Horse takes you all the way from 1st-12th grade.  From learning to scoop, pass and cradle as a first grader all of the way to the recruiting process as a junior and senior.  One of the primary and core principles of Iron Horse is player development. Our focus on improving individual skill, lacrosse IQ and increasing competition (in practices and at tournaments) is how players improve overall.  We are constantly getting you ready for the next level.

3.  FACILITIES Our facilities were always the best in the metroplex for any select lacrosse club, but with the addition of the new South Campus fields, we can practice 10 teams at the same time and did so several times this past summer.  This allows us to pivot like we did for tryouts when we needed to adjust the schedule to a later time due to heat, add a practice for a team if needed and get all of our make-ups in if we have any.

4.  COMMUNICATION Weekly communication so you are in the know about everything may not be the most important thing when you pick your lacrosse club but we believe its a strong component to help make the overall club a success.  CLICK HERE to look at our past emails that we sent out over the course of this past summer '24 and fall '23.  5 Pages of 30 emails a page from last year alone!

5.  SCHEDULING We understand you are paying to join a lacrosse club and that you need to know the schedule prior to signing up.  We provide the full year's tournament schedule to you in advance.  We provide the entire fall schedule as well so you can see if that works within your players schedule.  A good deal of our expenses as a club are on our coaches and we want you to be able to take advantage of our staff and schedule to the best of your ability.

Cost Table

If you are looking for costs, those costs will be given in the invite emails.

Survey

We did a brief survey at the end of our youth season and because of the results we did modify a few things to this years schedule.

1.  We are starting our fall weekday practices slightly later than normal as that was requested by a number of participants to reduce the football conflicts.

2.  Extra Summer Tournament:  Most requested was that we add in that extra summer tournament to our fees instead of having it be an ala carte to help ensure we have the full team at our events.  This will be for 2032, 2031 Sec and 2030 teams.  Anyone else can choose to do an ala carte.  More on ala carts in the cost table of the invite.

Regards,

Tiffany Surran
