Coaches

Chris Surran

Chris Surran is the founder and President of Iron Horse Lacrosse as well as the Dallas Deuces Lacrosse Organization and the current Head Varsity lacrosse coach at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas,Texas where he has led the team to 4 state championships. Chris was an All-American lacrosse player at Syracuse University. He participated in three NCAA Final Fours and played in two NCAA National Championship games. He was the MVP of the Final Four and Captain of his team in 1993, when Syracuse won the NCAA Division I National Championship against the University of North Carolina. He was also selected to play in the prestigious North/South All-Star game.

Chris was the head lacrosse coach at the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, RI for three years. During that time he worked under the supervision of Richie Meade, former head lacrosse coach of the United States Naval Academy. Chris was also a founder and part owner of the Player's Choice Lacrosse Camps, which are still operational today.

Chris has trained NCAA All-Americans and has run lacrosse camps around the country. Recently, Chris has coached and trained many of the Dallas area’s best male and female goalies. He owns and operates the successful Deuces Lacrosse Camps that are known for bringing in a high quality staff consisting of NCAA college lacrosse coaches, NCAA All Americans and professional lacrosse players. As the head coach at Dallas Jesuit, Chris has led Jesuit to the Division I final four of the Texas State High School Lacrosse League in both 2010, 2011 (runner up), 2012, 2013, 2014 (runner up). In 2007, The Dallas Morning News named him the Coach of the Year for the sport of lacrosse.

Currently, Chris still plays goalie annually for the Burnt Orange, a Syracuse University reunion team he was selected to play on during it's inaugural year in 2009. Chris has also been on the board for Bridge Lacrosse Dallas, a non-profit organization focused on bringing lacrosse to traditionally underserved areas.

Additionally, Chris has a Bachelors degree from Syracuse University in Political Science and a Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University Law School where he graduated Suma Cum Laude. Chris practiced law at the Dallas office of Jenkens and Gilchrist until 2006 when he opened his own boutique law firm focusing on Commercial Real Estate and became the Head Lacrosse Coach at Jesuit College Preparatory School.


Matt O'Connell

Coach O'Connell -- a 2006 graduate of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Cortland -- played lacrosse all four years for the Red Dragons, a program with which he had integral roles in winning NCAA DIII national championships as both a player and coach; upon graduation, he worked as an assistant lacrosse coach for Morrisville State, helping them transition from JUCO to NCAA division III lacrosse.

The 2008 and 2009 seasons saw Coach O’Connell back on the Cortland sidelines as a graduate assistant. During those 2 years the squad went a combined 37-4, including 2 trips to the NCAA finals and winning the 2009 Division III National Championship.

In 2009, Coach O’Connell was hired as head coach to start up a division III lacrosse team at the University of Dallas. During the 2010 and 2011 seasons Coach O’Connell was also an assistant at Coppell HS, where the team went on to win a pair of state championships. The inaugural season of 2011 saw the Dallas Crusaders go 4-10. The following campaign the team finished 3-12, as they started competition in the SCAC.

Currently, Coach O’Connell is in his second year at Parish Episcopal, where he is a physical education teacher and head lacrosse coach for the Panthers.

In his playing career at SUNY Cortland, Coach O'Connell finished with 140 points from 66 goals and 74 assists.

During his heralded 'national championship' senior campaign, the all -around midfielder tallied 62 points on 31 goals and 31 assists, and for his efforts garnered such accolades as SUNYAC Lacrosse Conference 'Player of the Year', ECAC Upstate Men's Lacrosse 'Player of the Year', 'First Team' All-SUNYAC Conference, SUNYAC 'Tournament MVP', and 'Second Team' All-America.
He played his high school lacrosse at West Genesee, a perennial lacrosse powerhouse in Upstate New York.

David Streeten

David grew up in Corning, New York. With a father who is considered a legendary high school coach, it was only natural that David would excel at the sport. David was a decorated midfielder and face-off specialist at Corning East High School in New York. His high school career face-off winning percentage was over 72%. David was selected to the All-Conference First Team, All-Tournament Team, and selected to play in the Super Senior Game. He was named his team's Offensive Most Valuable Player. In 2002, Streeten earned a silver medal in the Empire State Games of New York as a member of the Western Empire Team. David played for Division I Binghamton University as a face-off specialist until he was sidelined by a career ending injury. During his remaining three years of school, David worked as a volunteer assistant until he graduated from Binghamton in May of 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in English and a concentration in creative writing. After graduation, David worked as a freelance sports journalist at both Inside Lacrosse Magazine and Lacrosse Magazine. and substitute teacher before entering the coaching realm.

Chase Wildes

Chase Wildes was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Chase started playing lacrosse in 4th grade for Highland Park’s youth program. Chase attended Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas (“Jesuit”) where he was a 4 year varsity letterman and 2 year varsity starter under head coach, Chris Surran. While at Jesuit, Chase played both Midfield and Attack. Upon graduating from Jesuit, Chase attended Southern Methodist University double majoring in Finance and Economics. Chase currently works for LegacyTexas Bank on their Middle Market Corporate Banking team. Chase has been coaching youth lacrosse at various age groups for nine years.

Matt Mueller

Matt has been with Coppell Lacrosse for six years. He has worked as the youth development director, a youth coach and an assistant on the high school staff during that time. This year, Matt will be taking over as the varsity head coach. Before coming to Coppell, Matt was the director of lacrosse at Camp All-Star in Chattanooga, TN, the assistant director of lacrosse at Future Stars Camp in Purchase, NY, the head coach of the middle school team and assistant coach of the varsity team in his hometown of Saranac Lake, NY. In Saranac Lake, Matt was a captain and graduated as the all-time leader in assists. After graduation, he went on to play at Division III Cortland State University. He then transferred to Plattsburgh State University where he finished his NCAA career and graduated with a degree in communications. While attending Plattsburgh, Matt was elected team rookie of the year as a midfielder and was a team captain. 

Christian Carson-Banister

Christian Carson-Banister was drafted by the Dallas Rattlers in the 2018 MLL Supplemental Draft. With the pick, Coach Bill Warder made Christian the first Dallas native selected by the Rattlers.

Allowed career-low five goals in 18-6 win over Mercer on Feb. 7 ... Made season-high 15 saves in 9-8 loss to Harvard on April 7 ... Stopped over 11 or more shots in his final five starts, four of which came after an injury kept him out of two games ... Stopped 14 shots at then-No. 4 Duke on May 3 ... AS A FRESHMAN IN 2014
Started all 12 games in which he played ... Named team's Most Valuable Player ... Finished with a 10.47 goals-against average and a .545 save percentage ... Was in the cage for both of the Terriers' wins ... Made NCAA-high 25 saves against No. 3 Duke on May 4 ... Allowed only six goals at Bucknell on March 22 ... Allowed eight goals or fewer in five of his last six starts ... Made 12 or more saves in six games ... Led the Patriot League with an average of 10.91 saves per game ... Stopped nine shots, including eight in the second half and five in the fourth quarter, in 9-8 win at Holy Cross on April 19 ... Made nine saves in Terriers' 12-7 win at Lafayette on March 15 ... Long Island Lizards

In the spring/summer of 2018 Dan was drafted to play for the MLL team the Long Island Lizards.  

 

Classroom

Dan Morris graduated in May 2017 with a degree in psychology and minor in leadership studies, while maintaining a 3.6 GPA. He is currently pursuing a master of science in business and management. Morris is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a four-time academic all-conference recipient. He is a member of multiple academic societies: National Society of Leadership and Success, Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Primannum Honor Society. He also received the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Education Academic Excellence Award.

Character

A 2018 team captain, Morris is highly revered at the University of Maryland and within the men’s lacrosse program for his high character and integrity. He is incredibly reliable and an excellent mentor for younger players, proving that it is possible to achieve success on the field and in the classroom by doing things the “right” way. He has led the program’s community service directives since 2015, while twice being named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. He patiently sat on the bench for three seasons behind all-american goaltenders, preparing as if he was a starter each day like a consummate teammate.

Community

Morris is involved in various community activities including serving as the team’s community service director since 2015. In this role, he collaborates with different organizations for community service events and coordinates upwards of 60 volunteers for each event. He is involved with Team IMPACT, an organization that places kids with life-threatening illnesses into sports programs. He is also involved with Lax Stache Madness and Wreaths Across America and has volunteered at Amazing Grace Church in Baltimore, helping to maintain the property.

Competition

A member of the 2017 National Champion team, Morris was an honorable mention All-American (Inside Lacrosse) at goalkeeper. Also in 2017 he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team and Big Ten All-Tournament Team. Morris is a two-time Big Ten Tournament champion and a three-time Big Ten regular season champion. He has earned National Player of the Week honors, as well as multiple Big Ten Player of the Week honors and has been a member of the team’s Leadership Council for two seasons.



Brandon Bannister:

Brandon Banister played lacrosse for the University of North Texas Men’s Club Lacrosse Team. His senior year, he was named captain of that team. Upon graduating, Brandon became an assistant coach at UNT for two years, while also working as a high school lacrosse referee for four years. Brandon stopped playing lacrosse only when his own son was old enough to play himself. At that time, he began coaching at PSA (Plano Sports Authority/Wrangler Black) and continued to coach there for three years.  Currently he gives lessons to Dallas Jesuit players, and has been coaching for the Dallas Deuces for the past three seasons under coach Surran. Brandon prides himself on teaching his players the fundamentals of lacrosse in order to properly prepare them for their high school career.
